What you see before you is not what it appears to be. Normally when you see a Nissan 240sx (Silvia in Japan) S14 you would pop the hood and expect to see something along the lines of an SR20, RB25/26, or even a KA-T. The KA-T being what this car started with. Derek’s S14 however is a little different. You may have noticed the golden bow tie the S14 sports on the rear. Look around a little more and you may also notice the dual side exit exhaust. These two subtle hints may give away the face that this car is not entirely what it seems.
Open the hood and you are slapped in the face with a corvette LS1 motor shoved in place of the old KA-T setup. Now if you think this is just some stock LS motor you would be wrong. The LS1 before you has been fitted with stage 2 ported 5.3l aluminum heads, Texas speed and performance 228r cams and a built valve train. This setup puts out an EST. 430-450hp. A set of Z32 rotors can bring this car to a stop quickly matched with a set of Tein adjustable coilovers matched with ISIS rear upper control arms, traction links, and toe links give the car full adjustability for the track of which Derek says this car will be seeing a lot of track time. “I can drive this to the track, beat the balls off of it and drive it home. No trailer required…ever.” Now that’s what we like to hear. Another tidbit of information that may draw attention is Derek did everything on this car in his own garage. It doesn’t get any better than that. “It is the most fun car I have ever driven, and I’ve driven some pretty fun car. This car mean way to much to me I will never get rid of it.” With the amount of blood, sweat, and tears poured into this car, it’s not hard to see why Derek would enjoy it so much.
